HLTAID011 PROVIDE FIRST AID
Course Overview:
The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course supersedes the previously accredited HLTAID003 Provide First Aid. Recognised within the Australian health and community service sectors, this course is designed to equip participants with essential life-saving skills through comprehensive theoretical instruction and practical training.
This unit is applicable to all individuals who may be called upon to deliver a first aid response in diverse scenarios, including community and workplace environments. Participants will engage in rigorous training and assessment methods to ensure competence in providing effective first aid care
Delivery Method and Duration:
The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course employs a blended delivery method, combining online learning with an in-person classroom experience. This comprehensive training spans a total of 18 nominal hours, structured as follows:
• 15 hours: Online self-paced learning and assessment
• 3 hours: Classroom-based theory and practical learning, including assessment activities
Entry Requirements:
To ensure a successful learning experience in the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course, participants must meet the following entry requirements:
1. Age Requirement:
◦ Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Technological Skills:
◦ Students must have access to a computer or laptop in good working condition.
◦ Proficiency in basic computer operations and online learning is essential, including:
▪ Good-speed internet connectivity.
▪ Ability to download and upload documents.
▪ Familiarity with navigating online learning platforms.
◦ A willingness to engage and learn is crucial.
3. Foundation Skills:
◦ Applicants must demonstrate the following Foundation Skills as a prerequisite for
enrollment:
▪ Completion of Year 10 with English as a subject OR
▪ Current or expired certification in HLTAID011 Provide First Aid OR
▪ A Certificate II level qualification or higher OR
▪ A minimum of two years of relevant industry experience with sound literacy and numeracy skills.
◦ If necessary, a preliminary Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) test may be administered at Hope Training College of Australia to assess the applicant’s skill level prior to admission. Successful candidates will be admitted, while others will be provided with opportunities to improve and retake the LLN test.
4. Identification:
◦ A government-issued national photo ID (e.g., passport, driver’s license) is required for verification.
5. Unique Student Identifier (USI):
◦ Participants must obtain and provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI) from
usi.gov.au. Certificates cannot be issued without a verified USI.
6. Physical Fitness:
◦ Due to the physical demands of the course and the first aid industry, students must be physically fit. This includes the ability to perform a minimum of two minutes of simulated CPR on a hard surface and the capability to roll onto their back, side, and stomach as required during assessments

- Knowledge Assessment:- Written assessment will be handed out during the classroom session. multiple choice questions will help us to assess your level of understanding after training delivery.
- Skill Assessment:- Hope Training College of Australia will examine learners' skills in the Simulation Lab
Learning Resources:
Hope Training College of Australia offers various learning resources for the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course. A digital copy of the learning guide is accessible on our web portal, allowing flexible study on smartphones, tablets, or laptops. The course includes a 3-hour face-to-face training session, where participants receive guidance from an experienced first aid trainer. Prior to this session, mandatory reading of the first aid learner guide is required, with the time needed varying by individual. For those who prefer flexibility, e-learning options are also available for online study before the in-class training
